Anxious But Able

Saying no to fear one day at a time.

About Me

Hi, I’m Daijah!

12/28/2023 NOTE: This site is still active and I will be adding more posts at some point. Please bear with me as I try to work my way out of a mental funk 🥴🤪

I’ve struggled with social anxiety for just about every year that I’ve been alive (all 20 something of them). Because of that, my entire existence has been spent mostly in isolation. Even to the point of keeping me from developing deep relationships with my own siblings.

In 2019, I discovered God through Pastor Michael Todds Relationship Goals Series. I was a Christian my whole life and I always believed in God, but I never knew him or had a relationship with him. That year really kick-started all the improvements I’ve been able to see in my social anxiety since then.

In 2022, God allowed me to see SO MUCH change in my mindset, heart, and anxiety overall. He took me from a place of hiding away in my house to actively seeking out and going places even though I have to go alone and scared. He took me from being complacent in not having friends to desiring to have community. He took me from negative self talk to showing myself grace and patience. I am NOWHERE NEAR how I use to be.

Why I Started This Blog

I’ve been wanting to start an open diary type blog for years and I’m just now getting the courage to do it. I have a lifetimes worth of stories and thoughts on social anxiety and I need a place to get them out. Somewhere where I can at least feel like I’m being heard instead of it all just being written on paper and shoved into a drawer for nobody to ever see. I also want to document my journey of overcoming it and to share what I’ve learned and what I’m still learning!

I hope I will be able to connect to people who have similar experiences and that someone will be able to see themselves in my stories.

What Content I Create

  • Blogs: I make blog posts mainly about my personal experiences with social anxiety. Occasionally my posts will include tips and tricks that have helped me see improvements in my anxiety.
  • Step-By-Step Guides: In the “Adulting With Social Anxiety” section of my blog. I create detailed guides on how to achieve the big firsts in adult life (like buying your first car, moving out, etc). Because my social anxiety and lack of life experiences has made reaching these milestones a lot harder and slower than others, I want to help anyone who may be having trouble with it as well.

You’re having lunch with a few people you associate with. You’re staring down at your plate, quiet, but ears ringing as the group around you laughs and talks about whatever pops into mind. Their conversation is flowing effortlessly. No lulls. No shaking voices. No blank stares.
  • I Thought God Told Me Who My Husband Was – I Was WrongJuly 15, 2026
I spent all of 2025 believing a man whom I’d never seen was my God-promised husband. What started as a year full of hope and expectation ended with me questioning if I even still believed in God.
  • My Desire For A Man Stole My Faith In GodJune 20, 2026
The desire to be loved has consumed me since I was at least three years old. I’d make funny faces or do little dances in an effort to be found cute by the people around me. I remember that even at that tender age I wanted a boyfriend. Delusionally, I thought (and hoped) that the friends of my older brothers “liked me, liked me”.

5 Things That Make Holding Conversations DifficultAugust 4, 2024
Recently, I spent 13 – 14 hours talking on the phone with a guy I met online. Our conversation was split between two days and much of that time was spent with him doing most of the talking and with many awkward silences in between. From this experience, I learned

Philippians 4: 12- 13 (ESV)

  • 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
